When’s the last time you said “yum” with any real enthusiasm? I mean the kind of “yum” that implies three or more exclamation points. Well, get ready to reach that “yum” summit with Eat This Yum!’s line of all natural, scratch-made jams and marmalades.
Eat This Yum! is a family owned business operating out of Erwinna in Bucks County. Founder Gino De Schrijver, who grew up in Belgium and Ireland, spent 30 years as a chef prior to building a business around his savory/sweet, European inspired jams and marmalades. In 2018 the company re-branded and re-organized to increase efficiency, maintain quality and keep up with demand. The new jars have been a huge hit with mouth watering colors, more ounces of jam and more value!
So, when you’re in a jam about where to make your popular jam, who better to call than the fire department? Eat This Yum! operates out of the Delaware Valley Fire House where, in return for the hospitality, Chef De Schrijver cooks up some awesome spaghetti dinners and contributes 5 percent of Eat This Yum!’s revenue to his hosts.
Eat This Yum!’s line of jams and marmalades includes herb-infused Blackberry and Rosemary Jam and Strawberry Lavender Lemon Zest Preserves. Feeling spicy? Try the Orange Saffron Cardamom Marmalade or Blueberry and Cardamom Preserve. Did I hear the B word? Yes, of course, the number one favorite is Bacon Marmalade followed closely by the Tomato Jalapeno Marmalade.
“We’ve streamlined our product line to 13 flavors,” says Sales & Marketing Manager Natalie Rockwell. “We will do small batch runs season by season.”
While most people obey the directive, “Eat This Yum!”, as intended by De Schrijver, some may have reservations based on the mix of flavors. But “not tasting” is typically “not an option” when Rockwell is around.
“I make people try it and it blows them away,” she says. “It’s really rewarding.”
Rockwell likens the tasting of the jams and marmalades to that of wine in which you can detect a lot of different flavors and experience a long finish.
