In July we will be reading Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman. Read more about the book and author here.
Young readers welcome at our July 8 book club at 6:15 pm!
How better to fill the "endless" summer nights than to bring a young friend or family member to our next Food for Thought Book Group!? July's book selection, Seedfolks, is geared toward younger readers (approximately 5th grade and up), but rich with meaning and encouragement for any age. The story of a young girl who dares to plant seeds within a blighted neighborhood proves that a little gardening and a little hope can bring people together! We will discuss the themes, favorite parts, and inspirations from the book at this inaugural inter-generational book talk. No need to RSVP, just show up! Copies of this quick-read book are available at the bookshop. And, if you are so moved, you can bring a snack to share. You need not bring a younger counterpart in order to attend! We look forward to planting this seed of involving younger community members in our book group, and watching it grow!
We meet at 6:15 with the discussion starting promptly at 6:30. After an hour and a half of what is almost always spirited discussion, we have been heading over to a local eatery for some "social time". Some people chose to bring a "pot luck" dish inspired by the book we've read. EVERYONE is welcome. You don't have to be a member of the Co-op. Mention that you are purchasing the book for the Food For Thought Book Club, and you'll receive 20% off your book price at the Doylestown Bookshop
