You almost need a medical degree to understand today’s commercial skincare solutions from hyaluronic acid and retinol to microdermabrasion. There is no doubt that science work wonders for some; but when it comes to taking care of our body’s largest organ, Katie Ryan puts all of her faith in plants.
“I trust them completely,” says Ryan, an herbalist and co-founder with Tom Duane, of Heart and Soil plant-based skincare products.
Heart and Soil, based in Dublin, sells a line of all-natural cleansers, toners, serums creams and balms that contain no synthetics or unwanted preservatives. The Multitasker facemask and toner can even be used for hair. Ryan says she is working on creating more hair care products and also hopes to branch out into 100 percent natural cosmetics and sun protection formulas.
“I am really proud of our products,” Ryan says. “They are made with a lot of love.”
While Ryan creates products, business and life partner, Duane, does all of the graphics and branding. The couple is excited about the upcoming launch of their new website where viewers can learn more about product ingredients and place orders online.
“It was great the way we came together to work on this,” says Duane. “I am very excited about our new venture.”
Ryan and Duane will be at Doylestown Food Market, September 8th and 15th from 10 am to 2 pm with samples of their skin care line. They also will be demonstrating products at the Healthy Living Festival at Snipes Farm and Education Center in Morrisville, PA, on September 9th. Ryan says that passion for the environment is at the heart of everything they do at Heart and Soil from developing clean and effective skincare products to minimizing packaging waste. And, it seems, there is no lack of passion from customers for Heart and Soil products.
“I am humbled by the positive feedback we are getting,” Ryan says.
